TBF, the PDBs always seem to be in plastic and I couldn't care less (though some frequent fliers do, a LOT)

which is why that article Andie linked made me laugh. I've heard complaints about every one of those things.
I figure PDBs are plastic either b/c the cockpit is not yet secured (glass shards could be a weapon) or more likely they don't want to un-secure the glass before takeoff just to have to re-secure it.
I'm not just happy if I *get* a PDB. Delta is good about it. American FAs were horrifically bad at it.
