The original deathmatch games like Quake and Unreal Tournament had massive 64 player games with autofill rosters.

Unreal Tournament remains one of my favorite multiplayer gaming experiences of all time.

Probably my best UT CTF moment was on that map with the two castles and the big cliffs in the middle. I had come out of the cliffs chasing a guy
