a small animal rescue:
For all my friends and family who will be doing any Christmas/Hanukkah/holiday shopping through Amazon this year, please consider shopping using AmazonSmile and choosing PALS - People Assisting Lodi Shelter as the non-profit you want to support.
As some of you know, but some may not, PALS is a non-profit No-Kill animal rescue (that I work for) that supports our local animal shelter. We average over SEVENTY THOUSAND dollars a year in medical expenses for the animals at our rescue, and in the city shelter, as well.
This year, that figure will be much higher. In addition to the expense of ordinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and upper respiratory infections, to name a few, we've taken on some extraordinary medical expense, as well. In the last two months, we've taken on the following extraordinary medical cases:
- Doxie mix with a fractured leg and pelvis which required surgery, laser treatment, and rehabilitation;
- Tabby cat with a shattered rear leg; the leg could not be saved, so it required amputation;
- THREE dogs with severe parvovirus;
- Tabby with his tail broken in five places that required amputation;
- Yorkie mix with a separated shoulder, required treatment and rehabilitation;
All of these animals have received the best possible care and are happy, healthy, and on the road to full recoveries.
But wait, there's more (there always is!), as it looks like we will soon be taking on the care of a Terrier mix with two broken hips!
So, to cut to the chase, if you're going to be shopping through Amazon anyway, please consider shopping via AmazonSmile, and selecting PALS - People Assisting Lodi Shelter as the organization to support; it's easy, just follow the link in the original post.
Whether your purchase is big or small, every dollar we raise helps ensure that we're able to save the life, and provide needed medical care, to the next stray or abandoned cat or dog that's in need of our help, our love, and our compassion. Our ability to do so because of people like YOU...that's what I'm thankful for!
