that's the same as it's done for me, except there's still use in having the app on while driving in traffic - some km will still accrue; and

I catch many pokemon at home and elsewhere (and, again, sometimes km will accrue because of satellite drift), the tracking feature just isn't very useful.
I do still have pokemon pop up while driving on the slow side (stop and go traffic on non-highways especially) or at a stoplight sometimes - I don't always try to catch them myself (phone-in-hand use for non-911 calls is illegal here), but that's how my sister will nab.
