NMS: Got another 2 hours played. Hour one I decided to make the trek to my ship which was a 13 minute walk from my starting location. During daylight

I can only walk for 2 minutes before having to die or recharge my thermal shielding. I started at dusk, making good progress and picking up whatever resources I found. Go to about 5 minutes left to walk when then sun came up and I had to take shelter in a cave for a while. I mined some iron while I waited and crafted some carbite sheets I needed to repair my ship.

I got impatient and started moving before dusk thinking I could find more caves. Instead, I was on a relatively flat area so I had to resort to constructing shielding plates on the fly which took iron and plutonium (which I was finding fairly regularly) instead of using zinc to recharge (which was very rare). Almost died once from misjudging a jetpack jump across a ravine. I panicked once and zinc recharged instead of building a plate depleting that precious resource which, once I got to my ship, I found was a massive mistake.

I needed zinc to repair my launch drive.

Hour two was spent making small forays out from my ship to look for heredium (which I also needed) and zinc. I started using mined holes in large resources to shelter in because they also provided the same protection like a cave. Found a few tech blueprints along the way but eventually noticed two spaceships circling over a spot. That usually meant a launchpad was there but in use and sure enough, found a small structure with an alien as well as a galactic terminal where I could buy the zinc I needed.

Next play session will be getting back to my ship (which is another 8 minute walk back) as I found plenty of heredium along the way. I don't plan to stay on this planet forever or build a base here but I have already read that the space pirates are very common so I will need to plan some trips around the planet to find tech and upgrades before leaving. Problem will be launching from a random spot takes 200 Plutonium which, while I have about 500 so far, will run out fast as I move around in my ship...

still loving survival mode
