Someday, I'll tell you the whole story about a major international incident one of my subordinates almost caused when I was working in Washington, DC. -- (edited)
|
The gist of it was that he mistakenly put the flag of Taiwan in the centerpieces for the tables where the 20 delegates from the China National Space Agency were seated at a meeting that I was managing.
Thankfully, I spotted the problem an hour before the meeting started, and even more thankfully, a good friend of mine came to my rescue by (quite literally) running from the State Department up to the Reagan Building with the right flags.
The Chinese take these things very, very VERY seriously. Anyone with even the remotest experience working for the federal government knows this.
