"Get in there and crush Taiwan, or let them go." is a fundamental misunderstanding of china, imo....

a) they will never let taiwan go
b) this is a country with a couple thousand years of history, so if they have to stick it out a couple hundred more years until they get taiwan back that's not really a big deal to them
