I wonder if I'll ever get used to the sound of the train whistles when they blow through at all hours of the day.

The closest tracks are a few miles away but we can still hear them. At least Sophie has stopped barking when she hears it at 3am.

You will get used to it. We live about 3 blocks from tracks and it became background noise very quickly

We've got a commuter train with several grade crossings, and freight tracks across the river that are used regularly.

We lived less than a mile from the tracks in the town I grew up in. It won't take long.

I used to hear the horn for the new Exposition Line when they were testing it. Since it's been in operation, never. I live about 3/4s of a mile away.

I used to live about a block from an emergency department. I got used to the ambulances, but never the helicopters. -- nm
