znu, I would be surprised (but maybe not) if Jetblue were to be allowed to merge with the new combined Alaska.

Virgin was small enough that eliminating them doesn't necessarily destroy much competition. Jetblue and Alaska are both sizable (while smaller than the 'Big 4') and combining them would eliminate a sizable competitor.
My gut says that consolidation is probably over for now, but who knows what a Trump admin would say.
That said, Jetblue and Alaska (even the combined version of Alaska) don't have *tons* of overlap in routes.
