Well, it really is sort of a joke. The Founders designed the Electoral College to prevent what only the Electoral College is now enabling.

I'm serious, I'll join a movement for constitutional amendment for a direct vote presidency.
Responses:
I'm seriously considering asking someone to read Federalist No. 68 to the entire Electoral College the day before they cast their votes.
