I may be misunderstanding it but if sites get paid by pageload then they're insisting they get paid even though I have no interest in the ad/product.

That makes it sound like they want me to help them defraud the advertiser by helping them get paid for ineffective ad use.
If they're only getting paid by ad click, then there should be no complaint about my use of an adblocker because I'd have never clicked on the ads anyway.
In either case, I'll take my pageviewing business elsewhere.
