In retrospect the F-22 looks pretty good.

It's absolutely the superior plane but everyone got spooked by the cost. Now that the cost for the F-35 have ballooned, the F-22 looks good. I read a while back that they kept some of the production capability of it in place but I'm not sure if we could restart production at this point. Oh well...fewer less capable planes at 2/3 the cost...what does it matter.
