we've never met you, but we're really sorry your dad died; and we work with your husband and he's a good guy, and he told us you're allergic to many flowers but don't seem to mind an orchid that's around the house?

(he mentioned something about dried flowers, when I asked about flowers vs. a plant; but, man, dried flowers are pretty darned allergenic for me, and I wouldn't risk them for her. no, not going to buy the "shark tank" fauxs - those and their like are nice for those who choose them but feel pretty presumptuous to me for someone for whom I don't know preferred decorating style, etc. I don't really want to do food, either, with particular circumstances.)
