non-spoilerish thoughts on Rogue One ... (well, 1 obvious spoiler plot point included)

wouldn't it be funny if the movie actually takes place weeks or even months before New Hope?
here's the thinking ...
we know that Someone will get the Death Star plans and get it into the hands of the Rebel Alliance (this is the 1 obvious spoiler i mentioned in the heading) ...
there is also something said in the trailers about there being a pending test on the super weapon.
in New Hope, didn't Tarkin say something about testing it out on Alderaan because Dantooine was too remote?
either way, in the trailers we see the Death Star fire the main weapon once ...
if that's the big test firing ... word would already be getting out that the battle station is operational. meaning that the Alliance is that much more desperate to get a plan of action into place ...
i'm sort of rambling away from my original point of thought ...
the main thing is ... what if Rogue One actually happens weeks or months earlier than literally ending perhaps just hours before New Hope starts, as has been rumored and bantered around?
personally, i think that would make more sense . . .
