The CIA, who hates Trump ever since he said he was smarter than all of them, who engineered the take down of the CIA-Director by having one of Melanie's friend's killed in his hotel room...The CIA discovers that he and Putin have spent weekends "together" on the Black Sea coast. Trump tries to have the entire upper echelon of the Intelligence Community killed. Mad Dog steps in and organizes a coup of former military officers. They all were either long retired or retired expressly to take part in the overthrow so as not to have it be active military.
Mad Dog stabilizes the country and runs for "re-election" in 2020 (the joke that comes to mind is not mine but stolen from facebook. But it's too good not to mention. Also, I won't be surprised if any of this happens).
