I get the resentment, in that I can at least wrap my head around the perception but the fact that they don't feel that they've benefited from

government largess puzzles me. It's either that they realize, don't care and want more or they truly don't think the things they are getting are government benefits ("keep your government hands off my Medicare." being the best example...)
