I think they truly don't see themselves as getting government benefits - or at least, their fair share.

Look at, say, how the government supports housing. Public housing is a benefit. A tax rebate for mortgage interest is not a benefit.

Or university placements. Affirmative action is a benefit, but things like legacy placements or lacrosse and rowing scholarships, which aren't based on racial criteria but in practice benefit white people more than non-white people, are not.

And also with things that are not government. Why isn't there a White Entertainment Television? Why don't All Lives Matter? etc
