I think the tech is so immersive and spectacular that they can get away with it.

I spent an hour walking around a "chicken farm". (The developer had a thing for chickens. Kind of Gonzo from the Muppets thing). It was incredible.
It'll be interesting to see what the porn industry is able to do with this stuff.
