Heh. :-) There's a second way to do it. You fill the five jug up and pour it into the three jug which leaves you two gallons in the five jug.

Empty the three jug and put the two gallons from the five jug into the three jug. Now you have two gallons in the three jug. Fill the five jug up and pour it into the three jug. The three only has room for one gallon so that'll leave four gallons in the five gallon jug.
