I've helped staff a couple regional conferences and one national convention of Affirmation (the group for LGBT Mormons and their families)

I really enjoyed hanging out with 'em. Dawson is right -- there is a potential for crazy -- but nor more so than any other group that has a sharp divide to overcome in reconciling their sexual orientation and some abjectly different aspect of their lives.
But overall, they're pretty cool folks.
