With the Russian kompromat story now in play, it's inevitable that someone in an official capacity will investigate. While we no longer have an office of special prosecutor, someone - at the DOJ or the FBI or someone appointed by Congress or whatever - is going to do some digging and Trump is going to order it be stopped and someone's going to say NO.
