that the treatment of minority populations (race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, politics, however you want to identify them) has been one of the primary struggles of every major civilization, ever. Democracy is no different.

Why would electing a egotistical bigot like Trump tell us that our form of government has failed, if this is something we've been struggling with for centuries?
