generalizing ... rural voters lean R, urban voters lean D. If you're the Dems, the easiest way to "win" is to leverage the huge advantage you have in urban centers. It takes a lot of rural MI counties piled on one end of the seesaw to outweigh the millions of votes coming out of Detroit, for example.

If you're the Reps, the best way to counter that advantage is to limit the voter turnout in urban centers so the votes of your peeps count more. Which they have done.

If you're the Dems, the best way to counter *that* assuming you can't fight voter suppression, is to take your message to the rural voters and try to win on R turf.

So, if the 1st paragraph is what helped BC and BO win their elections, and the 2nd paragraph is what helped DT win his election, the 3rd paragraph is the blueprint for 2020.
