If it actually happens, my sense of existential dread, worry, and trepidation (a la' pmb's post the other day) will turn into actual fear.

I am trying as best I can to avoid any comparisons to the rise of Nazi Germany. I think it's hyperbolic and too much on the side of conspiracy theory rather than rational, reasoned inquiry.
But every day, I feel like I'm pushed closer to viewing the current state of politics akin to Germany circa 1933.
