I'm not sure why but after about 2 weeks they came out and called a friend. It seemed very coincidental but the investigators used a social media post they made to identify some of a wider circle of friends and happened to pull up to this persons house while they were there. The lady had a no trespassing sign up (rural) and so they called her before going on the property. Her call was very nervous/jittery so they got suspicious. The homeowners alerted their friends who basically tried to bolt out the back after the homeowners talked (again, very cagey) to the investigators who were trying a ploy to get the homeowners to contact them if they saw the couple. While driving away, they basically spotted the couple running/hiding in a nearby field. It was a total fluke but the couple, after being really smart basically hiding in the swamp for 2 weeks, did it to themselves.
