More and more I think the defining difference between Dems and GOP or liberals and conservatives

Is the the GOP aren't happy to win unless there is a clear loser. So all these policies that they are pleased to see enacted have a huge plus factor for them because they involve someone else (and probably even themselves, if they'd look) losing.
