basically our worst nightmare as IT. I can't tell you how many times I have to check things to be sure they're working and find that they've failed

proactive notification in this area is a lifesaver but is surprisingly difficult to get working right. I've had plenty of times where both the task and the notification fail spectacularly and you don't notice that you're not getting the "everything backed up OK" messages and you're not getting "backup failed" messages....
