More details on the grand-niece's trip to Peru. Sounds exhausting but I'm still jealous ;)

"Hi Megan. Certainly a very exciting trip in the planning. Sophie travels to Peru in Summer 2018 for 4 weeks with Camps International. They came to school to present their next expedition and she and her good friend Holly have signed up. A group of 30 go out to work in the community building schools, walls, whatever is currently planned at the time. They live in the community too together in a boarding house where the organisers feed them. They'll work from 9-12 and then from 2-4 after that they get to play with the local children and mingle with the locals or relax. They'll also work on environmental and wildlife project which include planting 100s of trees. They take a trip to Lake Titicaca and visit the floating islands and may do some work with the islanders too. Then after all that hard work they embark on a trek for 4/5 days to Machu Picchu.
She is excited and a little apprehensive about the trip but she has 15 months to prepare and fundraise so it's going to be fun. We visit North Wales quite a bit and have climbed Snowdon but I think as part of her physical training we'll have to climb it a bit more as Machu Picchu is over twice the height. Sophie will have come to the end of her GCSEs in June 2018 so the trip is perfect timing and on her return she'll be starting college so a very eventful year for her."
