of a billion votes there has been evidence of this kind of voter fraud in less than 3 digits of instances. On the flip side we're seeing that it is disenfranchising tens of thousands. So tell me how this is protecting the efficacy of the process.
Second, these people without ID's seem to be functioning well enough in their lives that they don't feel that the benefits of having it outweigh the costs. For many it means losing a days pay to go get one. For some they are elderly and have no need to drive or others simply don't own a car. There are ways around almost all of the kinds of things you say they need it for above. You actually don't even need one to get on a plane (though it will take you longer). I know this because I know people who have forgotten their ID's when travelling and still were able to board. So again, put aside your gut feelings and look at the facts.
