There's no guarantee of anything, but I'm willing to bet that #'s trend more toward unmarried couples with kids splitting more frequently than the

alternatives. If the kids' welfare is truly most important, having the legal bond between 2 adults is a stronger link than not having any linkage; nor do I feel it's an out of line provision.
