I've been assuming that someone from the establishment/intellectual side of the party would emerge - much like Blair did for Labor (and later, Cameron

for the Conservatives) in the UK. Someone who is focussed on expanding the coalition of voters that get them elected.

However, the Republicans have been too successful electorally for this to happen. I don't think we'll see meaningful change for a long time.
