I was called in to do a little bit of PC support for a friend...

He's land the job of managing a local gym and the previous manager bolted without much in the way of training. He messaged me yesterday and said he was having trouble with the PC in the office and asking if I could come and help in the morning. So I was up bright and early on a Saturday and dropped by to have a look. I loaded a bunch of stuff into my car like a toolbox, keyboard, mouse, USB rescue stick, etc.

When I arrived, he handed me the PC manual, a binder they gave him when he started the job, and a bundle of CDs that came with the PC (all of which I'm pretty sure he could throw out).

Long story short, I rebooted his router and his computer was fixed. To his credit, he had previously rebooted the modem, but not the router. My chief concern is that he now feels like a dumbass and I don't want that to be the case. Clearly this stuff can be overwhelming to people and he, in particular, was put into a very difficult position. It could have been any of a million different factors.

I was also glad to be out of the house early this morning so I could then go to the gym. Now I have the rest of the day to... do my taxes. Yay.
