I believe that is going to be a remake in the vein of the recent Jungle Book movie. So photo realistic is probably a better description

Live action applied to Mogwai in the Jungle Book but for the Lion King, all the characters will be animated. Though this time around using computers with images of actual animals as opposed to the glorious traditional animation (though I think there were scenes with computer assist, the stampede as an example) of the original
