Check my logic please. Guy at church reuses coffee filters by making a pot of decaf, putting regular grounds on top of the used decaf grounds... -- (edited)

That's not fully caffeinated, right? It's going to be more like half caf, and it's going to be bitter because it's trying to draw flavor out of the decaf grounds that have already been spent.
That makes sense, right.

iirc, decaf is made the 'water process' way which seems to me they make coffee and get the caffeine out the first wave, dry it again -- nm

Unless he's using less caffeinated grounds than he normally would it wouldn't have any less caffeine.

I'm not sure you'll lose caffeine unless the decaf can pull it out as it passes through. Taste might be off though with those used grounds.
