...and it's trying to pull from the decaf grounds instead of the regular.

each compound will have a separate extraction percentage (though there would be some complex interactions)

Unless it gets to a caffeine saturation point, which is probably far higher than any normal cup of coffee would have, I don't think it works that way. -- (edited)
