Let's focus on 3...

Yes, there are studies that suggest they believe their medical training will be harmed and yes, there are studies that say the extra hours affect patient outcomes, there are others that contradict it too. There's actually an easier answer to this than you'd think - instead of having them work 24, 28, 36hr shifts to obtain the training - improve the training to fit into more manageable durations.

It defies logic to expect people to work these shifts. The transportation dept regulates the number of hours a driver can long haul, they cite studies as well...and yet the medical profession isn't bound by the same rules. As we know, the federal government regulates similar industries differently...the reason being, I'll leave up to you.And while I won't paint the entire medical profession as knowingly dishonest, I'd suggest there is an inherent bias in the studies. Lastly, on this point, Patient Reported Outcomes, which is only something of the last 5years, will hopefully shed more insight on this.
