The layout of the famous Empress hotel in Victoria is a mess.

There are places where you have to go up the elevator from the lobby, down a long hall, then down the elevator, just to get to your room.
The elevator that takes you to the lobby can easily confuse you and land you on the floor above the lobby, and there's no easily accessible staircase (enough though such a hotel should certainly have a grand staircase).
Then there's the Grosvenor Hotel in London which, I guess, is two adjacent buildings? To get to the 2nd tower, you have to go up half-way, walk down the hall, then access another elevator either up or down.
And I was in the tower, so I had to go to the top, down the hall, and then up again.
