52000 is the same as 50000.

Gyms are capped at level 10 which is 50000. Putting that 10th pokemon in adds 2000. That 2000 is deducted by beating the lowest pokemon (in addition to the normal 1000).
I've been in level 10 gyms. What tends to happen is that the lowest pokemon keeps getting beat and then it is built back up to level 10 and someone new takes their place. So if you don't have some around 3000 you won't stay in they gym long. I really wish they would stop people who use multiple accounts to do that.
