Does ST have a resident pharmacologist? Does clarithromycin and prednisone seem like a bad idea?

Urgent care gave them to me to treat a chest infection/bronchitis, and asked that I come back tomorrow for an x-ray to rule out pneumonia. I assume the prednisone is to reduce inflammation in the lungs, but internet searches make it out to be bad news with the corticosteroid, especially if I'm already immunosuppressed.

I'd skip the prednisone in favor of the clarithromycin. If you have inflammation due to a bacterial infection, it's better to treat the infection. - . Mar 19, 00:36
