he's actually okay about it. he doesn't like it, but it's really just the needle going in that seems to pinch a bit -- (edited)

once it's in, he's good to sit there for the couple minutes it takes. And, he doesn't fight when he gets picked up to come in the bathroom, where we do it.
it's definitely a two person job. one of us holds him and pets him, the other works the IV and holds the needle steady.
but he's definitely feeling better. he's even gained a bit of weight back (he's eating wet food twice a day, plus he has dry kibble), and he now has three water sources to drink from. Their regular bowl, the new bubbling cat fountain, AND a glass on the coffee table we just leave for him. Because he's a cat, of course, the *best* water is the water they assume is yours, so we just leave out a glass for him to drink from.
