Wal-Mart and Target's customers? For many of their products, it's price sensitive people who want everything in the one place and who are buying in bulk.
Who are Amazon's customers? Price sensitive people who want everything in the one place and who are buying in bulk.
And then if you don't get customers in the store, you can't sell them other stuff they didn't realise they need.
There'll still be reasons for customers to go to Wal-Mart and Target, but many will go a lot less - instead of one or two trips a month, it might be a few trips a year.
