Typical Brits. Another story was about the goose they'd carefully raised for Christmas dinner. Which disappeared a few days before Christmas......

They were convinced the G.I.s based down the road had a great Christmas. She never did get over her dislike/distrust of Americans.
And of course the fact that after the Brits had pretty much won the war John Wayne came in and grabbed the glory :)
