So one of the guys here got a job offer for a stupid amount of money for a 6 month contract. he's loyal to the company, so he says to them "can we do this through the company's consulting arm?" They agree.
He comes to us and says "they've offered me the full contract amount to do it for them, it's outside the scope of my job with you (i.e. you don't pay me enough for this shit), and will be a hardship on me and my family if I do it," then basically asks us for a percentage of the contract as a bonus for bringing the work in, up to us how much.
My boss offered him his regular salary plus 3% of the contract, which amounts to like 15% of the total contract amount. He is now unsurprisingly quitting.
Also worth noting, it's work only he can do. Like there might not be another person in Australia that's qualified to do it.
