Coincidentally, I stumbled on an article earlier today about Chris Mack interviewing for the UT job back in 2011. We also talked to Gregg Marshall before settling on Cuonzo. UT didn't like Marshall because he'd been in two straight NITs, and we didn't like Mack because they thought he was surfing on the coattails of the prior coaching staff.
They have like 20 NCAA tourney wins between them since then.
