In response to "I've seen Rock Gods and I can make a list out of them,, but I've written up two special moments of groups you've never heard of in the IM" by crash davis

the "never heard" band encounters are another category.

I would imagine enjoyed belting that out. And bumping into Cobain at that time must have been interesting given that he was in the biggest band in the world then. What was that like?

My No One Has Heard of List is:

Lil Sister - local band one of my college roommates was in. It was generic late 80s inspired rock. I got exposed, however, to what it felt like to be along for the ride on the smallest of scales.

Bumping into Peter Wolf a few times at local clubs.

Switchblade Symphony - my college roommate was in another band which opened for them. They played the Middle East Club in cambridge. I was living down the street - met him outside and went to the show. His band was good, they were the first band I heard cover, "You Spin Me". Switchblade Symphony is like I imagine Stevie Nicks deranged daughters would sound like. I doubt it's good but watching the show from behind the band was a pretty incredible experience. If that band were ever to get back together to do a show I would probably go.

I saw an Athens GA band 5'8" in a lil club across the street from the Boston Garden, the club no longer exists. It was our pre-show before a NIN show (my college roommate was with me). We drank Irish carbombs while this band played behind us in a room no larger than some living rooms. The opened with a song called, "Weirdo", it starts off soft and croony...luring the audience in and then bangs into some intense music and squealing. The lead singer/guitar player was naked by the end of the show. Naked. Not Nekkid as in NCM. Sans clothes. He did not have the body for public nudity. The 12 of us who saw that show didn't really care. Maybe that was the point.
