that the push off the door, when he's traveling in one direction in space at a certain rate of speed, would not change his trajectory that much.
I may need to watch it again, but it seems as though he was traveling towards the center of the tail reactor at a high rate of speed, then throws / pushes-off the door, and that slows him down immensely. While I realize pushing off in 0g would have an effect, it seemed to have a DRAMATIC effect on his trajectory.
AND then Aurora catches up with him to save him (nearly).
Otherwise, I liked a lot of the other science in the movie. They seemed pretty decently done.
