she has one of the most pure voices I've ever heard. She can seemingly do it all.
She covered a few Stones and Led Zep tunes - my favorite being "Wild Horses" which she closed with and "Rock and Roll". "Wild Horses" was particularly well done and funny because before we got to the show, we took the subway into town and heard a busker doing his best to murder the song like it had killed his family. I can't imagine it's a hard song to do but this guy was butchering it. Then she, two hours later, saves it.
She has this very slinky sensual singing style. It's pretty much 2 hrs of baby making music.
If she's the Jedi Grand Master of singing, her band is the Jedi Council. The drummer anchored everything well and was clearly a wild spirit. The bass player was great and did a solo on it as though it was a regular guitar - I don't know that I've seen that. Her lead guitar player is basically one of those people who could play any instrument you present him. If he hasn't played it he would probably be able to teach himself in 20mins and jam on it the rest of the night. That dude should be a massive star. I have no idea who he is and that's criminal.
She leads it all and is clearly a bit of a kook but lovably so. She committed one of the greatest sins of a concert, doing a sound check during the show, but she was the first person I was OK with just sitting her riff through it. Normally, I think that's unprofessional unless your monitor is on fire, but she gets away with it.
The one thing I wish she'd done more of is show off the pipes with a bit more "park and bark" as the show trash says. She has this sweet little head voice, then a deep jazz voice, I was surprised she didn't do more from her chest. It's clear she has it and she did show it off a bit but there were some points we were waiting for that big sound and it didn't come. I wonder if, as a background singer, she sort of just had that taken out of her. That she doesn't think to do some shouting when called for it.
Overall, it was a great show. Probably in my top 10. She's a rare talent.
