There's nothing unique about Nathan's. It's just a steamed hot dog (and the hot dog is roughly equivalent to an Oscar Meyer weiner). It's fine and

sort of serves its basic purpose, but there's nothing great about it. Putting aside of course that Chicago hot dogs are far superior (starts world war III), there's really very little difference between a Nathan's dog and any average hot dog you get anywhere else in New York (or pretty much anywhere).
The Pastrami is a different thing. I bow down to New York deli stuff.
