As an American with Canadian retirement savings accounts, I have to find a special treasury form to, I believe, JackDawson's agency. No joke.

FinCEN is the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at Dept. of Treasury, and they require the annual filing of FBAR (don't know what that stands for) form 114 on the BSA (another acronym I don't know) website.
It is a simple declaration of assets held overseas. It's a very simple form (although they could make filling it out easier).
I've done this dutifully every year I've lived in the U.S. Or, rather, every year since they've had this form. Nonetheless, I fully expect to find myself crying in JackDawson's presence at some point in the future. In regards to taxes, that is.
