I'd get a regular hard drive, too. Games take about 30-50 GB of space.

Our system is already half-full on the 512GB solid state drive after adding our Steam library locally.
What I can tell you from our 1060 is that we test in the upper 10th percentile for VR readiness. That's with 6 GB. With 8, you should be golden for a while.
